Look at that gorgeous grain. Seriously, it's drop dead.
Kelly Wearstler is obviously a fan.
I also love the softer look of traditional cerused/limed oak.

I've been scouring craigslist for a nice vintage oak piece with great lines. The Ornamentalist has an awesome step-by-step tutorial on creating ebony limed oak that I can't wait to try.
In other news, I have another giveaway for you guys over on Sadie + Stella... This is going to be the last one for a while, so good luck!

I loooove the ebony. Tres sexy
ReplyDeleteMore giveaways? What a whore???!!!!! ;-)
sooooo sexy and luxe!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this look too! I always hate painting over wood because you'll miss the site of the grain on the piece, but this is kinda inspiring me to figure out a way to achieve this look through a DIY!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,

I never knew what this was called so thanks for the education - I agree it's beautiful! And this reminds me, I randomly stumbled upon these pretty hand-drawn furniture style guides (I'm into antiques) on Pinterest and was so thrilled when I saw you were the one that made them! They are so cool, and so helpful! So THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! :)
It's such a beautiful finish. You get color and see the beautiful grain of the wood all at the same time. I have one dresser from like the 50s I scored a few years back that is similar to the in the 3rd to the last pic. I though about painting it but decided the finish was too beautiful to paint.
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS SOMETHING SO COOL about black wood no??

You know, I didn't know what it was called, but the lighter version has certainly caught my eye as well. The dresser- fourth from the bottom- pretty much perfect in every way. Are you incorporating any of this look into your new digs?
ReplyDeleteVery cool! My family had a hardwood co. but I didn't get to see a lot of this. The black is gorgeous but I really love the lighter versions. Great post, friend!! xo
