(ugh. that carpet is long gone, btw.)
Since we totally removed the peninsula in the kitchen and patched up the drywall by ourselves, I'm feeling confident enough to tackle this nook with its awk triptych mirror. I want to carve the nook out into a regular box shape so we can put in shelves and make it a built-in bar. And if I'm feeling really butch, I might even attempt to install some cabinets below myself. I'm thinking I'll keep just the back wall of the nook mirrored with glass shelves sort of like below and wallpapering the entire little hallway/nook area surrounding it.
Some other built-in bars I'm coveting....

love this idea! I've had those rooms pinned for a while now to use in my next house which must have a spot for a carved out bar!
ReplyDeletePerfect! I love the 2nd image the most. It is amazing. Best of luck with your plans, I think that is the perfect place for one!

Every home needs a tiny bar! My fave are the hidden unexpected bars like #2 and #4!
ReplyDeleteYes!! This is going to be fabulous! I think having an actual bar would be SO much better than a bar cart.

Wonderful images! My favorite is the bar in the last image. It's simple yet chic and glamorous. If only I had the space to build a bar in my home.
ReplyDeleteEr,I would like to move into that wine bar/cellar #4 today please! What a hell of a homage to some good wine. Great pics all around.
ReplyDeleteJamie Meares' little bar is one of my all-time faves. I also can't get enough of that one with the turtle shell. Great post and good luck with this project, it sounds like a great plan!!
