I came across a picture of a Tibetan tiger rug the other day
and was instantly intrigued. They kinda remind me of the
Climbing Leopard Rug by DVF for The Rug Company.
Only around 200 originals are known to exist, so good luck getting your hands on one of those... Fortunately, there is a company,
Tiger Tiger, selling beautiful hand woven reproductions from artisans in Tibet. #3, my favorite, is from there, but still a little too rich for my blood at the moment, so I might have to pacify myself with this coffee table book...
YUM!!!! These are all gorgeous!! and so interesting....glad to know there is someone doing reproductions....I don't know I think I would dare to use one....in a very simple minimalist space....hhmmmmm......thanks for this wonderful intro
ReplyDeleteI love that you're a silver lining kinda gal! The rugs are amazing!!

ReplyDeleteWow these are beautiful! I am not sure if I have seen these before!
ReplyDeletelove it!
ReplyDeleteTotally reminds me of The Life of Pi - on of my favorite books, and it's getting made into a movie!! I definitely recommend it if you haven't read it :) Those rugs are SO cool, I've never seen one before. I love the ones that look like the tiger is laying down (or just a tiger fur laying on the ground... whatever!).

What what, I have seen these on ebay before for a reasonable price... maybe they weren't tibetan (try nepal as a search term) but they look exactly the same.
