I can't believe it's Friday already! Today, I'm leaving you guys in the good hands of Shannon from vignette home. I'm so excited she chose one of my favorite series 'dine&design' for her post today. She may be new to the world of blogging, but is definitely one to watch! She has a great eye and is a master thrifter. (Not kidding. She scored a genuine Dorothy Draper Espana Chest at an estate sale. Majorly jealous.) Prepare to drool over images of vibrant rooms and dishes in this edition of 'dine&design'...
Happy Friday all! I’m thrilled to be over here on
The Aestate with my weekly
dine&design post helping out Jessica while she’s busy packing up and moving back to the land of her peeps—Arizona! Being a newbie to the world of blogging, I have to say that Jessica’s sharp wit, bold style, creative eye, and general all-around talent for “getting the good word out,” has been a true inspiration for me in finding my own voice over at
vignettehome.
This week’s
dine&design inspiration color takes into consideration Jessica’s sunny and warm (I mean,
hot) home state of Arizona, as well as her sparkling personality. No surprise, it
has to be none other than
Mondrian-esque yellow--pure primary jolts of bright, sunny, bold and intense YELLOW!
So welcome home, Jessica! Enter through the front door...
I thought it appropriate to start off the weekend with a cold (yellow)
drink and a toast to a new adventure...

Now on to unpacking! As you know, Jessica put great time and effort into outfitting a perfectly chic dining room in her previous dwelling--even painstakingly created a glam chevron pattern on the wall:

I'm sure it wasn't easy for her to walk away from that...but new digs require new ideas. So I thought I'd toss out a few (in yellow, of course) for her
new dining room.
I like this option because it goes a touch of funk with the paint. Further, it adds a completely modern twist to an otherwise more traditional setting. And the yellow pillows on the mid-century chairs also add touch of nice:
But then again, we all know that Jessica can totally pull off a bit of bold--stripes anyone?

Unpacking takes a lot of energy--both mental ("How best to position the sofa?") and physical ("No honey, move that entertainment unit 2 inches to the left"), so time for a little dine. If Jessica can remember in which box her pots and pans are packed, I highly recommend these protien-packed and brightly colored
eggs for a quick "pick-me-up" lunch:

OK, break over...back to unpacking.
If going all out on the walls seems a bit overwhemling at the moment, a great way to still add a pop of yellow is with the dining chairs:
Really, any bright yellow chair will do:
But if bright yellow dining isn't your thing...there's always the living room:

Jessica, I have no doubt that whatever design direction your new abode takes, it's sure to be fabulous--shine on.
Make diner easy for yourself--go with this crazy easy
lemony pasta with asparagus followed by
lemon granita for dessert (you
do like lemon, right?):

Then get mellow in your bright yellow tub...go on--you deserve it!

Until the next time...
love where you live.
I loved this post! I'm so smitten with that very traditional dining room with the totally unexpected square of yellow on the wall. Jessica's chevron wall is fabulous. How have I not seen either of you fab girls before?? I feel like I must have been living under a rock! Changing that though- I'll be visiting both your blogs from now on!
