{DIY} Faux Malachite Boxes Tutorial

Those of you that follow me on instagram got a sneak peak at this week's tutorial...

First, I need to give credit to Danika from Gorgeous Shiny Things for posting the tutorial that inspired this one. She went a few steps further than I did. Think of this as the quick and lazy way to faux malachite..

I bought two unfinished wood boxes from Hobby Lobby. They came with cheap hardware that I immediately removed. I patched the little holes left behind from that with wood glue. Then I used spray paint to prime and paint the boxes white. I was in a hurry so I did a sloppy job on the white paint. But it doesn't really matter since its going to be covered up. The paint I used for the malachite color is Luquitex in 'Deep Green.'

I just brushed the paint on, then used the jagged edge of a small piece of ripped cardboard to make the design. If you mess up its really easy to fix by painting over and re-doing it.

Bam. A set of faux malachite boxes for like $20.
