Love the designer tips in the new House Beautiful. Not the same advice we keep hearing over and over. You can check out all the rest of them on HB's Top Designer Secrets
pinterest board. Do you guys have any design secrets you want to spill?
And sorry this is a day late, but we have a winner of the Fashion For Home Marina Memo Board giveaway!...
Congrats, Sharon!!
The doorknob thing is interesting. I agree with the first one especially. I usually hate white walls...
ReplyDeleteThese are great tips! You are right- they're different than the ones we typically hear.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pulling these together! Intrigued to see how hanging the doorknob at 34" changes the look of a door.
ReplyDeleteThat IS good advice! Thanks for sharing the HB pinterest link -- off the check it out.
ReplyDeleteOh, these are great! I'm going to be sharing your post with my readers on Facebook, they'll love it! :) Also, congrats to your winner! (I would have entered, but I think you may have noticed that we're both doing the same giveaway! lol :))

oohhh....these are great tips....The doorknob one is interesting...hhmmmmm
ReplyDeleteSo many tips I've never heard or haven't thought of! I love the one about paint colors and flipping fabric over. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI saved all the of these tips - I see dark curtains with white lining all the time and it drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteThese are great tips! Personally, I swear by showing things en masse: 3 candle holders in different colors or heights or 4 hurricane vases with different shells, stones, etc make way more of an impact than one does :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the advice! Will be saving these. I just used a paint color in my laundry room cabinets that was what my husband called "baby poo". Paired it with grey walls and it looks fabulous. I agree it wasn't the prettiest shade but it was the perfect one.
ReplyDeleteHey, I loves me some white walls! But great tips all around and yes, the reverse side of a fabric is sometimes way better. Design tip to spill: most paint shops and the big box giants (Home Depot/Lowes) have something called an "oops" batch i.e. paint they screwed up when mixing. If you're not set on a color, see what they have on hand and it's usually sold for a few bucks and sometimes given away for free.
ReplyDeletegreat tips! thanks for the post!
ReplyDeletei'm hosting my first giveaway! http://west26bliss.blogspot.com/2012/06/chevron-pillow-give-away.html
very great quotes! Thanks for passing them on. Have a great weekend.
