So, I need some non-reflective museum glass and a different finish on that frame, but I'm so in love with this piece I scored from Australian artist, Chloe Shard. Here's a closer look...

I need some sconces now. Here are some options I'm mulling over.
Option #1: The practical, budget-friendly sconce
![]() |
| {Millenium Sconce, $129, Wayfair} |
Option #2: The understated, chic, splurge-y sconces that could work in a million different rooms...
![]() |
| {Primo Wall Sconces, $250, Furbish} |
Option #3: The dream sconces (Or "investment sconces" as I refer to them when trying to convince the Mr.)

| {Murano Glass Leaf Sconce, $498, Gilt} |
What do you think??
Oh, and I owe Kim and Jo over at Desire to Inspire big thanks for listing The Aestate in their Easter 2012 reading guide! I'd also like to thank Tobe from Because It's Awesome for the Easter link love and Kelly Wearstler for pinning my Easter eggs.

My favourite is option number two! Can't wait to see the finished result. The wall looks amazing.

I don't know what to comment on first! The walls look fab and I can't imagine how spectacular that drawing is in person. Umm...tulip table???? Be still my heart! I love all of the scone options, but #2 gets my vote. I've been coveting those since the last issue of Lonny...
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love your wall. Did you stencil it, you must tell us how you achieved this! It's divine! I love option #2, I think the black and gold would look amazing in the space!
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes on the wall and the headdress on the woman in the painting!

HOLY WALL SPECTACULAR!!! Seriously...it's amazing- is that gold paint or sparkly? Wow...speechless. Are all the walls covered or the one? And the art...I @W$(%W()(@#$!@#$ love, love, love it- must check out this portfolio and I'm thinking I need one too- god...glorious. As for the scones, my faves are #3 but I think they're too close to your chandy so #2- gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine. Its gold paint, just the one wall bc/ the sliding glass door is to the right and to the left is the kitchen. I think you're right about the murano sconces being too similar to the chandi. Still looking for some that are less similar....
DeleteYou have a lovely blog with so many inspiring posts! Thanks for sharing,I am your newest follower:)
ReplyDeleteDamn this room is gorgeous!! LOVE the art. Wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd like everone else, I say splurge on #2. They are the perfect accesory.
You really scored with that art piece, it's awesome. And the wall paper looks amazing. Aren't you glad the whole wall paper industry got a revamp and they're def. making a comeback!

I actually lovee option #1. It's my favorite! (And budget-friendly, how awesome).
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic space. Love the wall and the artwork is mesmerizing! I love the #3 sconces but in your space I like #1. Carry on with it!
ReplyDeletewww.chattafabulous.blogspot.com
would you stop with that wall?!? love.
ReplyDeleteMy choice is #2 for sconces. #3 will compete w/the fab chandelier (can't have too many stars in one room!) and #2's elongated design helps anchor the larger frame. I also think the black shades complement the darker shades in the art work. hope you'll post the final result! thanks for the inspiration.
Very chic! I like the furbish sconces the best.... think the black shades will really accentuate your art and the wall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping over so I could find your blog, I can't believe that is coloured pencil - how wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!!!! Looks amazing Jessica!!!! and that picture, I cannot believe it's all colored pencil! The green really compliments the gold!
ReplyDeleteI like option 1 and 2! Both are appealing, but of course #2 is a bit sexier. And oh my word- your dining room! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog! Love the stripes, and that portrait is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the portrait - she is divine :) and WOW to your dining room too :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day sweets

The wall is very impressive! Very good job! I'm with the option no.2! I think that black would be a perfect fit!
ReplyDeleteJessica! OMG! Love that wall and the art is so beautiful. I love all the sconces and none of them would be a wrong choice cause you have great taste. My personal favorite is #2. Have a wonderful weekend xo : )
ReplyDeleteThe room looks beautiful - congratulations (and you score bonus points for the use of Australian art!). Personally, I prefer sconce number 2, however I'd encourage you to choose whatever you love the most. You only have to pay for them once, after all...
ReplyDeleteYour dining room wall is gorgeous! I think all the sconces you've got your eye on are lovely, but I think No. 2 is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteThe wall looks amazing! And as for the sconces I love the first one for a modern clean look and the thirds one is so unique if you're looking for something different.

I love those walls. My pick is the black and gold sconces from Furbish. Not to mention, I love that online store for having so much to select from and having affordable finds for the budget conscious.
ReplyDeleteWOW i absolutely love the stripped wall!! so clean yet so stylish at the same time. im so doing that when i have my own place hehe.
ReplyDeleteOMG! OMG! OMG!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you enough how much I love how it turned out!!! I can't wait until you post the "How to" Process pics so I can copy cat. You have such great taste Jess...seriously, the styling is ON POINT! Great art.
I like the Primo sconces...I think the black shades will look best over the stripes. Can't wait to see more!
Love that wall! Must have taken forever to do!
ReplyDeletehow did I miss this????
ReplyDeleteAMAZING.

See if I would have read in order, I would have seen the finished result :) It looks AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI love your wall, hon! Gorgeous! It's a perfect backdrop. Working on a stripy wall for my dining room as well :) Either gold or black.
ReplyDeleteI dig number 2. They are classic and like you said can work in about every room should you decide to move them. Wall looks dope.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors. How do you manage to pick such great combinations?
