{Trending} Highlighter Home

Like it or not, looks like neon is in the cards for spring fashion. The bravest of the brave decorators and artists have been incorporating it in their works as well..

Too much? How about a more subtle pop...

Or, how about some art?
Or something more temporary: a neon-colored party...

I have a soft spot for the 80s, which means a soft spot for neon. But, I remember learning in my color theory class that bright neon colors are literally exhausting. The color is so stimulating that it fatigues the eye and becomes irritating. So, I'd probably never use it in large doses, but I think it would be really fun where you want a little surprise and don't spend a lot of time like a closet or guest bath.

So inspired right now! I know the perfect way to add a little pop to my decor...Too bad I've got company coming to stay for a week, and have about 4 other projects in the works. The best ideas always come when I have no time for them.

  1. I think the neon trend is so fun. I like it's eighties throw back vibe re purposed into a modern setting. Hot!

  2. OOOOOoooh I am loving some of those colors. Makes me want to have kids just so I can have an excuse to use them...well, maybe not. LOL. I really like when they're paired with neutral palettes like a gray wall. They stand out more that way.

  4. Pretty ballsy....I could definitely go for some art, accessories or a tabletop display, but I don't know about my furniture. Does that make me chicken? :)

  5. I like your roundup. Neons are fun.....but I think within the accent realm for sure....artwork is pretty cool too. I love the painting by Martin Creed. Funny...I'm in the neon state-of mind too...I'm working on my post for tomorrow and it has neon yellow!

  9. I love that you featured Neon colors in interiors! So much fun. I'm right there with you though- I don't think I could feature them in my own home unless they were smaller pops of neon.

  11. I saw a bunch of "highlighter" colors at Bloomingdales the other day so I guess it's moving to interiors as well. This is definitely not for the faint of heart! The paintings and table setting are fun though!
